Where the money goes
The hours I spend at your wedding are the part you see. Most of the work happens afterwards: backing up the footage, choosing the moments, cutting the highlight film, editing the full ceremony and speeches, matching the separate sound recordings to the picture, grading the colour and delivering it all. Editing takes far longer than filming.
What changes the price
1. Hours of coverage
Eight hours covers the ceremony through to the first dance. Twelve hours adds the morning preparations. If the day runs on, extra hours are £70 each, as long as I am free to stay.
2. What you get back
A longer highlight film takes longer to cut. The Ceremony has a highlight film of about five minutes; the Full Day runs six to eight minutes. Both include the full ceremony and speeches.
3. Sound
The vows and speeches are what couples rewatch most, so they are recorded on their own microphones. The Full Day includes dedicated audio on the vows and speeches.
4. Photography
I film on my own. If you want photographs too, Film & Photography adds a second shooter I have worked with for years, with 400 or more edited photographs delivered within six weeks.
5. Travel
Travel within 40 miles of my home near Worcester is included. That covers most of Worcestershire, south Warwickshire and the north Cotswolds. Anything further is quoted before you book.
How to compare quotes
Two quotes at the same price can buy very different things. Check:
- how many hours are included, and when they start and stop
- how long the highlight film is, and whether the full ceremony and speeches are edited too
- how the vows and speeches are recorded
- when the film arrives, and how long the footage is kept
- what happens if the filmmaker is ill on the day
There is a longer list in questions to ask a wedding videographer, with my own answers.
Paying for it
A booking fee of 25% of the total holds your date, once I have confirmed the booking in writing. The balance is due four weeks before the wedding. If plans change, the booking terms set out what happens if you postpone or cancel.
